Grand Rapids Chinese Christian Church

The Grand Rapids Chinese Christian Church was founded in 1983. It began as a small Bible study group which gradually grew into a church. The church is composed of a group of Christians who believe in the teachings of the Bible, and are willing to commit themselves to Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of their lives. Although the believers come from different backgrounds and different countries ( China , Hong Kong , Taiwan , Southeast Asia , and other areas), in church, we praise and serve the Lord together through worship services; we build the foundation of our faith through the teachings in Bible study groups and Sunday School classes; we increase our fellowship with one another through fellowship groups; we witness Christ's abundant grace and fullness of life through our lives. We welcome you to come and acquaint yourself with our family in Christ. Let us grow together in the love of Christ Jesus.

Happy-Go-Lucky Bridge / Poker Club

Following an email by Jay to the Chinese community calling for bridge, our bridge club was officially formed on June 10, 2007 at Cindy's waterfront cottage. In fact, the second half of the inaugural meeting was continued on the boat.

Since our very first bridge play on June 15, 2007 (hosted by Ning), we have regular meetings every Friday evening at various members' residences.

Our gathering has always had the special party atmosphere, with overflowing joy and laughter -- thanks to our effervescent members.

While having plenty of food for thought and mental growth, we have often enjoyed great food for our bodies, too – courtesy of the host and attending members.

To reach the optimum health of both mind and body, we need to become an adventurer, revitalize our spirit and sense of playfulness, and become a kid again. That's where our club fits in. Playing bridge trains a sharper mind and has the long-term positive effect to our mind, the same way as health exercise to our body.

Active bridge players often continue their games well into their 80s and 90s with no sign of age-related disease such as Alzheimer's .

True hobbies such as bridge involve no luck, and offer the precious continuous growth opportunity -- one becomes better from every hand played. For the long-term enrichment of life, bridge as a pure-skill game is one of the greatest hobbies one could ever have. As many research studies have shown, we gain the most enjoyment from activities we can improve upon.

It is quite impressive to see our members include not only those who played bridge before, but those who never played bridge before yet have the courage to try something new. To make our Friday nights more colorful, we also played other interesting card games for fun and laughter. In the mean time, we encourage sharing on positive things such as each other's hobbies, mind cultivation, dreams and hopes, etc.

On behalf of all members of the club, we invite you to join us and benefit from the wonderful game of bridge & other card games!
